Work Method Statement Piloting Works
Procedure

Any drawings used for the piloting work must
be an approved construction drawings.
·
Approved utilities mapping by utilities
detection specialist and, utilities and services provider like Tenaga Nasional Berhad
(TNB), Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (SYABAS), Jabatan Perkhidmatan Pembetungan
(JPP), Telekom, and telecommunication service providers must be scrutinized beforehand.
The depth, width and length of the utilities that located within the vicinity
of the work area shall be taken into consideration before work commenced.

Surveyor shall peg the four corners of the structure.
The Contractor shall offset the points given to certain extent so as to ensure
the marking will not lost during piloting work.

Temporary traffic management will be
implemented if the work affects the traffic flow. The area of excavation should
be barricaded sufficiently.
·
Piloting work at the pile cap shall be done
diagonally from two corners and shall be extended to 1.5 m from the edge of
pile cap. This is vital to provide sufficientworkspace.
·
The excavated materials shall be placed
neatly at site and the surplus material shall be carted off from site.
·
Water pump shall be used if there is
groundwater in the pit.
·
Flood light shall be used if the work take
place or prolong at night.
·
The backhoe operator and the workers on the
ground shall communicate and coordinate among themselves effectively and must
be extra vigilant during piloting work.
·
The contractor shall halted the excavation
work once medium of protection and signage of the utilities are visible. The
workers on the ground shall use hoe and shovel to further excavate the
particular area.
·
The Surveyor shall take the as-built detail
of the utilities once it has been discovered and the Contractor shall mark the
position of the utilities by offsetting the points so as to ensure the points
will not banish during the construction work.

The contractor shall take the details of the
discovered utilities particularly on the depth, width, length, diameter, girth
and numbers of the utilities.The data taken shall be recorded and verified.
·
The Contractor shall reinstate the protection
of the utilities as it would be damaging the utilities if it is left
unprotected.
·
The excavated area shall be backfilled and
reinstated to the original condition once the protection work is completed. The
pit shall be filled with suitable filling material free from sharp objects. The
surface shall be levelled and compacted properly.
